Sam Ovens’ Consulting Accelerator Review

by | Oct 7, 2019

About The Consulting Accelerator

The Consulting Accelerator is a 6 week program that teaches you how to start a “wildly profitable†consulting business and “get your first client in 42 daysâ€. The Consulting Accelerator teaches you how to become an authority in a niche, and make money guiding others. Sam Ovens provides an entire business plan for your consulting agency, showing you how to take it from nothing, to a single client, then into a full fledged agency, and finally into an online course. It’s a comprehensive and organized system, coming in with over 100 hours of content.

The Consulting Accelerator by Sam Ovens
The Consulting Accelerator by Sam Ovens teaches you how to build your own consulting agency from scratch.

One of the good things about The Consulting Accelerator is it’s fluidity. Anyone who’s selling themselves or their knowledge can benefit from this. People like podcasters, coaches, or course creators can all learn the fundamental skills of establishing yourself as an authority.

Who Is Sam Ovens?

Sam Ovens is an entrepreneur and business guru. He’s proven to be one of the top course creators for consulting and business. Like most course creators, Ovens creates online content instructing others through digital business. Samuel got his start by creating and selling an unknown app. This beginning (much like Tai Lopez‘s dating websites) are buried and cannot be found anymore. However, he claims that he pulled himself up by creating a local consulting agency and growing it from nothing. Take that with a grain of salt, as he’s the writer of his own story with this one.

The Consulting Accelerator Pricing

The course costs $1,997, or 5 payments of $597 ($2,985 total). It does seem a little unfair to have to pay an extra $1,000 just for picking the payment plan.

One of the things that doesn’t sit right with me is Oven’s FAQ section of the pricing, as he justifies a $3,000 purchase with tanking your credit or your relationships. Take a look:

The Consulting Accelerator Justification
Ovens misleads people into justifying his course purchase.

You read that right. Ovens is basically saying, “I get that you can’t afford it, which just means you need this even more. I’ll be nice and charge you an extra $1000 to pay it off in 5 months. And if you can’t, just max out your credit cards or borrow from your family. Don’t make excuses.†As good as this course is, I can’t help but lose all respect for Sam Ovens. This is manipulative. If you can’t afford a $2,000 payment, do not buy this course. This is absolutely horrible advice.

With that said, it comes with very little bonuses, as at it gives is a private community access, and an option to get physical dvds of the course.

It’s very straightforward pricing, and it also offers a 14 day money back guarantee.

The Consulting Accelerator Curriculum

The course is divided into six weeks:

  1. Fundamentals and Foundations
  2. New Paradigm & World View
  3. Alchemy of Client Conversion
  4. Alchemy of Client Attraction
  5. Fractal Facebook Evaluation
  6. Minimal Viable Service Delivery

Week 1 – Fundamentals & Foundations

This is a very generic week. It goes over the basic “mindsets†and personal work associated with consulting. This part of the course covers what consulting is, the basics of a niche, the “mentalities†you need to be successful, and the best way to look at a market. This part of the course is the most skippable, providing little value. In fact, Oven’s own definition of “consulting†is proven to be so loose that it can encompass any area of business. He considers consulting to be any service business, coaching, or even training. This can be problematic because Oven’s loose definition means that this content will look to be the same way: general, vague, and loose.

Week 2 – New Paradigm & World View

For those who do not know what a paradigm is, consider yourself lucky. Ovens is a very philosophical guy, most likely because anyone can be philosophical. Anyone. If you give very obvious advice transformed into a basic analogy, then you’re as much as a philosopher as Ovens. (Hint: this is going to be how you consult as well).

Let me save you some time and tell you this:

  • Believe in yourself.
  • View the world with opportunity.
  • Believe in yourself.
  • Accept your past.

Oh yeah, also believe in yourself.

If you think we’re joking, here’s the title of the videos you receive:

  1. The dark force holding your heels.
  2. Face off with the devil.
  3. Duality and conflict of man.
  4. Seeing for the first time.
  5. Alchemy of self.
  6. New paradigm & world view.
  7. Rolling Gods loaded dice.

That wasn’t a religious sermon you just read, that’s the actual titles of all the videos that come with this week. So far, one-third into this course, all you received are motivational videos you could’ve gotten for free on YouTube. If you find these videos have value to you personally, then don’t let us stop you from enjoying it. However, for those of you that want to take this course for business purposes (mostly everyone), then so far you’ve paid about $665 (or even$965) to get a pep talk. Consider that.

Week 3‚ – Alchemy of Client Conversion

This week is all about sales. You can be the best consultant ever, but without sales, you’ll never get a cent. Sales is absolutely vital to any consulting business, or any business for that matter. This section is the most valuable than any other week.

Sam Ovens' Consulting Accelerator Formula
Ovens provides an extensive section on selling to clients with a proven formula for members to follow.

Ovens provides a very thorough sales course, delving into an immense amount of detail. Most importantly, however, Ovens gives resources and knowledge that’s properly organized. It’s not a barrage of tips and “buyer psychologyâ€, it’s an actual plan and course that you’re able to start hitting. Ovens gives a better sales module than entire sales courses themselves. This week really provides value.

Week 4 – Alchemy of Client Attraction

This week is about creating an automated sales system. Remember, this course is about creating a six figure consulting business. You can’t get to that level if you’re splitting your time between selling and consulting. So, once you land your first couple of clients, Ovens provides a system to automate your sales.

This includes creating your own webinar, click funnel system, landing pages, etc. During this part of it, you’ll learn to shift yourself from a seller into a marketer. You’ll want your click funnel system created to land you clients while you consult. If you do this properly, you could even leverage this into creating your own course, seminar, or software as more income.

Week 5 – Fractual Facebook Evaluation

In order to generate traffic towards your click funnel system, you have to utilize PPC ads. Ovens only focuses on Facebook ads, which is actually admirable. Too many courses give a basic tutorial on every PPC ad system available, providing the same type of content you can find in a YouTube video. However, Ovens does the opposite. He focuses solely on Facebook ads, and does so in intense detail.

Sam Ovens' Consulting Accelerator Facebook Ads
Ovens focuses solely on Facebook Ads to give students a more advanced understanding of them.

Ovens offers tutorials on very advanced aspects of Facebook ads, such as Facebook’s algorithm, the types of ads that benefits specific pages, and what types of campaigns to run based off of how big your page is. All of the advice is solid, and anyone who takes this course will gain lots of value from this section.

Week 6 – Minimum Viable Service Delivery

This week gives off lots of different advice, but the gist of it is how to get your delivery and consulting speeds optimized. Basically, Ovens recommends that you start to become a leading authority in your niche. This can include things like creating your own blog, podcast, YouTube channel, or website. At this point, you’ll accomplish two things:

  1. Get passive income selling your own course.
  2. Raise your consulting prices by proving to be an authority.

Essentially, you learn how to become Sam Ovens. The advice isn’t bad, but it’s just not all that new. He gives a few other tips, like how to utilize freelancers to maximize your efficiency, but most of it seems like something you’d be able to learn on your own.

Sam Oven’s Course Quality

The course has very high production value. Everything from the videos to the workbooks gives off a professional feel to it. Even the website itself has a very simple and sleek interface. Additionally, all of the videos comes with long videos. In total, the course comes with over 100 hours of content. It definitely feels like Ovens put the effort into this course.

At some points, however, Ovens talks annoyingly slow. It’s a small criticism, but sitting through some videos can seem daunting. I highly recommend to turn the speed to 1.5x.

Is The Consulting Accelerator Worth The Money?

Unfortunately, no. If you have enough determination to, you could learn all of this course through other means. If know nothing about consulting, then maybe this course is worth the money. But $2,000 is vital for a start-up, and Ovens doesn’t provide enough value for it to justify such a price. The only valuable part of his course are the sales & Facebook ads modules. But these alone aren’t valued at $2k.

Sam Ovens' Consulting Accelerator Testimonials
The testimonials for the course all claim the course provided quick success for them, showing that Ovens doesn’t explicitly promise quick results, but promotes the idea of them.

Don’t let them fool you, either. Buying this course won’t guarantee your success. If you are knowledgeable in your niche, you’ll succeed if you try hard enough. In the end, the biggest thing that’s going to determine your success is you, not this course.

And for those who aren’t familiar with their niche, you also have to remember one key thing; whatever niche you decide to pursue you have  to be an expert in. This means that you may also have to take any costs of learning your niche into consideration. Either through courses, books, or one-on-ones, you have to be aware of that potential cost.

Who Is The Consulting Accelerator Best For?

Quite honestly, the course is useful for anyone. It contains comprehensive tutorials for beginners, as well as advanced detail for any eager students. The course is very thorough and anyone can find value inside of it. That being said, those who are newer will receive more value for their money than anyone just taking it for the sales and Facebook modules. While everyone can find value, not everyone will be satisfied with their purchase.

Sam Ovens' Consulting Accelerator Versatility
Ovens explains the versatility of his course.

As such, the course is best for beginners who are an expert in their niche already, and are just looking to learn how to translate their skills into a consulting agency. Even for those without pre-existing qualifications can use this course as a solid guide. Overall, anyone who’s new to consulting and digital marketing itself will find the most value from this course.

The Consulting Accelerator Alternatives

Consulting Foundations, Lynda.com– If you already know a great deal of your niche, then consider using Lynda.com. This is a subscription that also comes with hundreds of other courses ranging from digital marketing, PPC ads, and social media. This course in particular delves into the traditional consulting business structure.

The Art of Closing the Sale, Brian Tracy– One of the good parts of this course was the sales advice. Brian Tracy produces many good sales resources, the best of them being this book. The hardest part of sales is the close, and Tracy teaches various ways to overcome objections and reach a close.

Effective Way to Sell Consulting Services, Udemy– This Udemy course teaches you the best way to land your first client. At 1/200 of the price, it covers most of what Ovens teaches while saving you a tremendous amount of money

Our Final Verdict

The Consulting Accelerator is an alright course, but most people will only find about half of it applicable or useful. Additionally, the course is very expensive, costing around $2,000, or if you don’t have that much sitting in your pocket, Ovens will do you a favor and only charge you $3,000 over the course of 5 months. Delving into the Facebook Ads & Sales is quite useful, but anyone who’s trying to start their own businesses can’t justify throwing $2,000 on something they can learn for 1/200th of the price. Hopefully it goes on sale soon, because it provides valuable information once you cut out all of the fluff.

Pros

  • Facebook Ads module is excellent.
  • Great sales advice.
  • Well organized.
  • Beginner friendly.

Cons

  • Too expensive.
  • Too much fluff, especially with week 1 & 2.
  • Cheaper alternatives available.
  • Charges an extra $1,000 for any payment plans
