About High Ticket Dropshipping Academy

High Ticket Dropship Academy is a course created by AJ Jomah, the founder of 7 Figure Skills, a training institute that teaches a variety of courses in the eCommerce business domain. He has made various courses ranging from Amazon FBA to print on demand.

High Ticket Dropshipping Academy Intro
High Ticket Dropshipping Academy is a course developed by AJ Jomah and his team.

High Ticket dropshipping is basically dropshipping expensive items. Items like these are harder to sell online as a brand without an established name. The course promises rapid profits and an effortless business model proving to be an instant red flag, as high profit margins are the furthest thing from a rapid profit.

About AJ Jomah, the Course Creator

AJ Jomah was previously in the restaurant business started from rock bottom in 2014 after claiming to sell his restaurants, losing money in investments, and on top of that a divorce. He gives many talks about facing his greatest fear and realizing that the only way to go from rock bottom is up. He discovered dropshipping in 2014 and within 8 months of sold his first dropshipping business for $2 million dollars. All of it seems to be too cinematic to be true.

AJ Jomah constantly touts this rags to riches journey on his website. He hopes to inspire people to learn from him and to follow his path, mostly through the courses he sells. AJ Jomah claims to be uniquely qualified about high ticket dropshipping. However, it reads as a case of the right person at the right time as a lot of his advice is hard to replicate in a world that has changed a lot since dropshipping’s golden age of 2014.

High Ticket Dropshipping Academy Pricing

The 7 Figure Skills site has three options for the course each with different perks. The three options have changed names over the years and have also varied in price but the basic essence of the three levels of the course remains the same. The first one is the standard package called an “Everything Course” for $1997 dollars. This includes all the course material. It was previously called the “Basic Package” and cost $1297.

The next tier was the “Hold My Hand” package which is now called the “Mentorship Package”. This tier gets you the previous level plus niche validation, Shopify design course, a list of premium suppliers and a mentorship call with AJ every two weeks. We will talk more about this further. This tier used to cost $2497, but now costs $3497.

The last tier is the most expensive one. It used to be called the “Everything” package but is now called the “D-4-You Elite” which stands for Done For You. As the name suggests, you get niche research and supplier research done for you along with a customized Shopify theme. You also get your first ad campaign set up for you along with unlimited monthly group coaching calls with AJ and a live mastermind class in person with AJ in 2020. This used to cost $5997 but now costs $18997. What a steal.

There is a 30-day money-back guarantee, but the exact details of it are unknown. The terms of service for the landing page does not link to any legal agreement. Additionally, the 30 day money back guarantee does not apply to the D-4 You Elite course, the course that costs $18,997.

High Ticket Dropshipping Academy’s Curriculum

The curriculum modules have changed over time. To its credit, that means it’s being frequently updated and not left abandoned like others. In its current iteration, the course is a collection of separate modules and resources.

High Ticket Dropshipping Academy Phases
The various phases of High Ticket Dropshipping Academy broken down.

Phase 1- Foundation

Foundation is a kind of prepper introduction that describes the course outline and tries to get the student in the right mindset for the dropshipping journey. AJ includes his success story in this section as a way to inspire and prepare students for the challenges ahead, but more so to validate their expensive leap. It includes a goal-setting workbook that is a sort of personal checklist of questions one needs to ask themselves before setting out to start an online business. It’s a very cheap way to include course material and doesn’t provide any real value.

This entire part is very skippable, and provides little to no value.

Phase 2- Finding Your Niche.

This module starts out by setting your expectations of time and money to run the store. It goes into detail about selecting the right niche and product for you, covering the various ways to approach analyzing a niche. There is a price estimation section that helps you pick the right asking price for your product in relation to your profit margins. Finally, it then goes into brand building and market selection, mainly taught through a case study for a million-dollar dropshipping business. It ends with a set of actionable steps to take, mostly obvious things like “research your niche” or “start a landing page”.

Phase 3-Validating Your Niche.

This module is where it starts to present value. Jomah describes a method of using Google Shopping to find the correct price range for your products. He goes into researching the details that you need to validate your niche, including average product price in that niche, target demographic, existing brands, dropshipping “friendliness” and availability of suppliers. This module stands out against typical dropshipping courses as it streamlined the thought process it takes to pick the right niche before dropping money on the enterprise. This module can be quite helpful, as researching profit margins and average price isn’t something many courses go through.

Phase 4 – Creating Your Store

Every dropshipping course has a part like this, and it’s by far the weakest of the sections. It’s just a walk through of how to use Shopify.  A technically minded person can even figure these out on their own relatively quickly. It does come with a custom Shopify theme that might be useful for some people, but nothing that makes this section worth the money. This entire section, like most, is over explained and unnecessary.

Phase 5 – Finding and Contacting Suppliers

This one is on of the more helpful modules as it includes a supplier directory that you can use. A lot of the suppliers are outdated but it still serves as a useful and unique resource. The module has some guidelines on how to find the right suppliers, basically summarized as, “pick premium ones that are reliable and a little exclusive”. The section also comes with a sample email template that can be used to reach out to the supplier. Jomah also teaches students how to begin ordering sourced products, and the various terminology associated with them.  Overall this section may help someone get started provided their niche is covered by one of these suppliers, but it’s still not something that you can’t learn elsewhere.

The course materials includes a supplier worksheet for this phase, which is essentially a blank spreadsheet.

Phase 6- Paid Targeted Traffic

This section tries to teach a complex subject with minimal effort. By personal experience and by reading the experiences of other users who paid for the course, all show that this module only supplies students with the bare minimum. It mentions search and banner ads, retargeting, google shopping ads and facebook ads. It talks about sales funnels, PPC and SEO, Adwords, Google Shopping and more. Though this is a decent technical guide, there is no advanced subject here that is not present in other guides. It still requires a lot of trial and error from the student.

Along with these sections, there are other supplementary materials that can prove useful like a 5000+ supplier list, a list of 199 niche ideas, email, Instagram and Pinterest marketing, and more. It should be enough to peak the interest of the students to try alternate methods of promoting their business online.

AJ Jomah’s Course Quality

The course materials are well organized and of high production quality. The videos are slickly produced. There are no complaints about the amount of effort put into the actual course materials. Although some workbooks can seem pointless, the overall quality of this course is good.

Most instructions are screen recorded, though the few times we get a face-to-face video from Jomah, it’s met with above average production quality.

Does High Ticket Dropshipping Academy Deliver?

High ticket dropshipping is tough. Expensive products are notoriously difficult to sell online. Consumers who buy expensive items are not spending time online looking for deals on their purchases from random brands. They are negotiating with real businesses with established supply chains and credible history of delivering goods to customers. Essentially,  if you are spending a lot of money, you won’t make an impulse purchase. The kind of buyers that most dropshippers aim for are in fact impulse purchasers. This field is very unsuited for beginners. Beginning users are better off dropshipping cheaper items where there is less risk.

High Ticket Dropshipping Academy Benefits
Jomah constantly totes the benefits of high ticket dropshipping while leaving out all of the risk associated with it.

Here’s the issue: People who are beginning dropshipping are better off dealing with cheaper products to get their feet wet in this game. Once you have enough experience and money, you can think about dropshipping high ticket items. The promises that this course makes is something of a paradox. You can’t easily dropship high ticket items if you are a beginner. The materials in the course are meant for beginners and not advanced users. The target audience and what this course provides are at odds with each other. So you will learn something about dropshipping that you didn’t know before but you won’t learn anything magical or specific to high ticket dropshipping.

If you look over forums and social media then the same general feedback is heard. A lot of forum members have complained that the information in the course is nothing new and especially not much information is conveyed specifically to high ticket dropshipping. Add to that the disconnect between what this course promises and what it delivers is what makes this an unsatisfactory experience.

Who is Jomah’s Course Best For?

This course is hard to recommend for the aforementioned reasons. It is a beginner’s course that promises advanced lessons but doesn’t even deliver on that. I would recommend anyone to stay away from this course because of its unrealistic promises to beginners and the fact that it under-delivers for advanced users. As a beginner, you can learn the same things for free online or in a cheaper course. As an advanced user, there is nothing for you here.

Now as a beginner you could have learned something here but then your expectations would be set too high. If you attempt high ticket dropshipping as a beginner, you are most likely to end up not successful and discover a whole bunch of problems that this course doesn’t talk about. As it stands now, this course is best for no one.

Is High Ticket Dropshipping Academy Worth the Money?

This is for you to decide. It’s made harder because of the botched positioning of this product. In its current state, if you pick this up on its promise of making you an expert in high ticket dropshipping, you are most likely going to be disappointed.

The basic theory that he promises is flawed. There are many risks associated with high ticket dropshipping that are not visible by just finding an upper-middle-class client base. The assumption that clients are willing to shell out large sums of money is laughable. This client base  also the kind that can afford expensive lawyers and sue you for damages if anything happens with your service. Jomah never addresses business insurance, and with such expensive items, you could find yourself in legal predicaments. Keep in mind, with dropshipping, you have no control over the manufacturer’s product, shipping, or quality. Any risk is immediantely imposed to you.

I would assume that if you are hell-bent on learning from AJ, then you are better off getting the premium “hold my hand” and “done for you” packages. This way you get more time to spend with him and to ask him direct questions about possible problems that you are most likely to face when you start high ticket dropshipping. The standard package is just not worth the money unless you get the extra help needed to guide you through the process. That being said, Jomah does not strike as a person with legal answers to the very obvious questions.

High Ticket Dropshipping Academy Alternatives

You are better off saving money and trying to learn these skills by yourself. It will take a lot of seed money to start high ticket dropshipping. The lessons in this course are mostly common sense and nothing unique. Here are a few alternatives:

  • (Udemy)Build A Dropshipping Empire- This course provides a broad overview of dropshipping, while costing significantly less.
High Ticket Dropshipping Academy Alternatives
  • ( eCommerce Paradise Academy) High ticket dropshipping- If you want to learn specifically about high ticket dropshipping, this is a great alternative.

Our Final Verdict

Though not a complete scam, this training is quite ineffective and will lead to big shocks to the users who jump into the deep end by just relying on this course. Especially given the fact that it costs an absurd amount of money. There is no substitute for experience when it comes to high ticket dropshipping. The course has just too many omissions that will come to bite the students of this course once they start actually making first sales and running into these problems. The information offered in the course can easily be taught by cheaper alternatives, and in some cases, for free. This course creates an unrealistic expectation that is simply not graspable.

Pros

  1. High-quality supplementary materials like the supplier list and niche list.
  2. Great for starters with reasonable expectations

Cons

  1. Too many unrealistic promises
  2. The inherent risk of high ticket dropshipping is not fully addressed in this course.
